RON TO PRODUCE GRAMMY NOMINEE JASON YUDOFF AND THE NEW HOTNESS


Beginning with preproduction sessions in February, Ron will be entering the studio with funk-rock artist, and multi Grammy nominated, Jason Yudoff & The New Hotness (www.jasonyudoff.com) to produce his next release.   Citing Stevie Wonder, King's X, Billy Joel, and The Red Hot Chilly Peppers as major influences, Jason and Ron are looking forward to collaborating and creating an album of great energy and momentum. Watch for a release in late spring 2007.


RON ON TOUR WITH ERIC HILL AND PERFORMS DRUM CLINICS IN SCOTLAND, BULGARIA AND GREECE

In August 2006, Ron embarked on a European Tour with acoustic-folk artist Eric Hill, and took the opportunity to perform a couple of clinics and masterclasses along the way. From the rolling sheep emblazoned hills and stone laden houses of Scotland, to the mobile beauty and old world charm of Bulgaria, to the pristinely blue water and relaxed atmosphere in Greece, all the tour stops were amazing and made for an exciting and effervescent time !   Here are some photos:)

RON SPENDS AUGUST TOURING THROUGH SCOTLAND AND PERFORMING DRUM CLNICS IN THE UK

In August Ron went on tour with folk-pop artist Eric Hill (www.erichillband.com) for 10 dates throughout Scotland, including stints on the Isle of Skye, Locharron, Falkland, Edinburgh, Cupar, Freuchie and throughout Fife.   Ron also took the opportunity to perform drum clinics in Glasgow for Rhythmbase Music store, sponsored by Duallist pedals, Sabian cymbals, Pear drumsl, Evans drumheads, and Vic Firth drumsticks. RON DRUMS ON AND PRODUCES ERIC HILL'S NEW RELEASE "SECOND SIGHT" AT TAINTED BLUE STUDIOS NYC

In early January Ron went into the studio with folk-pop artist Eric Hill (www.erichillband.com) to produce and drum on 11 songs for his third indie release.   With an incredibly subtle and evocative voice, and featuring songs whose roots could be traced to James Taylor, U2, and Carlos Santana, Eric is looking forward to a late sprintime/early summer release to coincide with his forthcoming European Tour.   Here are some photos from the sessions:

Ron recently completed producing an album at Tainted Blue with Florida born acoustic-pop sensation Jeff Fiorello (www.jefffiorello.com), featuring DJ Logic and alum from John Mayer's and Sting's bands. Watch for a late fall release followed by North American tours in the New Year ! RON APPEARS ON 2 EPISODES OF "CITY SESSIONS " ON YMC TV

Ron recently taped 2 episodes of "City Sessions", a YMC/Comcast/DishNetwork TV series dedicated to bringing greater attention to American artists living and working out of several of the nation's largest thriving music capitals. Ron performed an acoustic set with artist Jeff Fiorello, and then revved things up with an exciting and energetic set with recording artist Emiko. RON ON TOUR WITH EMIKO IN CANADA, USA, EUROPE:

    
 
In early January, Ron emabarked on an international tour with (top 100) recording artsit Emiko (www.emikomusic.com) in support of the worldwide "Artists Against Hunger and Poverty" campaign launched by World Hunger Year (www.worldhungeryear.org) . Along with fellow touring AAHP artists Bruce Springsteen and Michael McDonald, the tour will take Emiko through Canada, the USA, France and Switzerland, before returning to NYC for two shows in mid-Feb. '06.

RON HEADING TO THE STUDIO TO RECORD EMIKO'S SOPHMORE RELEASE FEATURING LEGENDARY PRODUCER PHIL RAMONE AND GUITAR HERO STEVE LUKATHER:

Recording artsit Emiko and The Gemini Station are to team up with legendary multi-grammy winning producer Phil Ramone (Elton John, Billy Joel, Barbra Streisand) and world reknowned guitar icon Steve Lukather (Toto, Michael Jackson) to track her forthcoming album. With preproduction already in the works, and a tentative release date set for early fall '06, the band has been hard at work refining and writing new material, and Ron is very much looking forward to adding his drum stylings & tomfoolery to this great and crazy mix !

Ron records with 5th of July and Elton John/Lenny Kravitz producer Matt Knobel in West Palm Beach

 

In mid May Ron headed down to West Palm Beach FL to record an album with alternative rockers 5th of July and producer Matt Noble (Lenny Kravitz, Ricky Martin, Elton John, Lauryn Hill) ... Matt is an exceptional and energetic personality, a complete joy to work with... It was a great time and the results sound amazing !! Thanks to Pearl, Sabian, Evans and Vic Firth for supplying me in Florida with the greatest gear around :-) Look for the album to be released in the fall !

RON TEAMS UP WITH TAINTED BLUE RECORDING STUDIOS:
 
After recording 3 new singles for indie pop-rock artist Kirsten DeHaan (www.kirstendehaan.com) at TBP studios in early December, so impressed with his drumming were they, that Tainted Blue Studio owners & indie producers Andrew Koss & Patrick Shaw invited Ron to become the new in-house drummer for their unique studio and production environment. Located on 7th Avenue in the heart of Manhattan's Times Square, Tainted Blue Studios can be found in the former penthouse of Quad Studios, a truly legendary room that has been host to the making of many of the most popular and important songs of the last 25 years.

Ron recording with Will Lee, Chip Jackson and John Tennyson on Bettina Sheppard's new album:

Afro-Celtic sensation Bettina Sheppard has invited Ron to record on her next album with bass legends Will Lee and Chip Jackson. An album filled with odd time signatures and esoteric movements, it is slated for release in fall 2005.

Ron recnbtly completed tracking albums for Stephen Patrik (www.stephenpatrik.com) and Don Kemenker (Narada Records), as well as producing and playing on Offline State's new offering "My Sins" ... In March, after a tour of the USA, Ron will be recording the new album with pop icon sensation Emiko, followup to her heavily charted and airplayed "Tinkerbell".

Ron a featured performer at “Les Percussives Drum Festival” in Paris and “Batuka Drum Festival” in Sao Paulo:


During November, Ron will travel to Paris France on November 5 & 6 to participate at the “Les Percussives International Drum Festival” . He will be a featured performer alongside Manu Katche, Mohktar Samba, Trilok Gurtu, and others. Later in the month, Ron travels to Sao Paulo Brazil to participate in the “Batuka Drum Festival”, organized by “The Queen of Samba” Brazilian drummer and spokeswoman Vera Figueiredo. In addition to Vera, Ron will be a featured performer alongside Swiss/US phenom Jojo Mayer , and Argentinean drum sensation Gustavo Meli. Ron recording with Al DiMeola and Anthony Jackson on Leo Agutin's new album:


Russian Pop Star Leo Agutin, a great fan of flamenco and latin jazz, has invited Ron to record on his next album along with jazz and fusion legends Al DiMeola and Anthony Jackson. Ron splits drumming duties with legendary drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and Ernie Adams, with the album slated for release in early ‘05.

Ron has recently teamed up with Albanian pop sensation Simaku, both as a member of her live band and helping co-produce the group's forthcoming 2005 album for Hollywood. Check the "Tour" page to see when the next live shows are slated in New York.

Ron splits drum duties on PopJazz:


On John Tennyson and Peter Keiser's newest project called PopJazz, Ron had the privilege of recording 9 songs during 2 days of recording at famed Park West studios in New York. Sharing drumming duties on the album with Horst Keiser, the album, titled "PopJazz" will be released in late 2003 in Europe, and in 2004 in N.A. and the rest of the world.

Ron touring Europe twice in Spring 2004:


Ron will be a featured member of 2 very different groups that will be touring Europe in the Spring of 2004. In March, Ron will be traveling through northern and central Europe with Japanese power-punk-pop Rocker MIMI ROCK, and then in April he will be touring through western and southern Europe with international soukous star KALETA, as part of a tour that will also see the band perform in western and central Africa.

Grain now available in the South Pacific:


Ron Thaler's True Story Band last album release "Grain" (Hotwire/EFA/JVC) is now available in the South Pacific through Vorticity Music of Australia. The album features electric guitar hero Mike Stern and Al DiMeola cohort Herman Romero. Drawing on influences as diverse as Debussy, Weather Report and Peter Gabriel, "Grain" has received rave reviews in the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan over the past couple of years.

Australian drum magazine "DrumScene" has published an interview with Ron in it's February 2003 issue, presenting Ron for the first time to Australian audiences. A recap of Ron's stellar performance at TUDW (The Ultimate Drum Weekend Drum Festival in Melbourne Australia in June 2003) is chronicled in the September 2003 issue of DrumScene. Ron has also been featured in Sabian's 2003 Newsbeat, the annual artist and product showcase publication. A feature interview with Ron will be appearing in the 2004 March issue of Canada's Drums Etc., updating all his fans in Canada and abroad about his activities since his last interview in the publication in 1998. Ron Producing tracks for Story Box and Catherine Gang, and recording with the Young Unknowns:

Albums by folk-pop artist Story Box (Armchair), featuring tracks produced by Ron Thaler, are slated for release in 2004. Catherine Gang, with her energetic and sensuous voice, is in pre-production, with an album of Jazz-Pop songs due out in 2005. Ron is also currently recording tracks for the newest offering by The Young Unknowns, "Juice".

Ron's "Tilt" Soundtrack up for a Leo:


The first movie from former X-Files production staffers Patrick Stark and Lance Peverly, "Tilt" is the story of a Don Quixote-like character on a journey to find the benediction of his love and conquer the evils that besiege him. The film has been making the rounds at international film festivals, and has garnered Ron a Leo Award nomination (BCFIA) for best film music.

Corbis Documentaries (Bill Gates) film "La Tropical" making the rounds at International Film Festivals:

"La Tropical", under the auspices of Bill Gates's Corbis Documentaries, is a docudrama movie by renown photo-journalist David Turnley about Cuba's most famous live performance venue. The film, released in early 2002, has been making the tour of international film festivals. Ron's skills as a translator, music editor and composer have lent themselves to the film's sultry flow and realistic expression of Cuban music and life.

Ron Composes "3 Vignettes" Soundtrack:

Tales of disagreement and controversy in 3 short story vignette segments are brought to life by indie phenom and "Bright" producer/director James Miaoulis, and features exceptional and challenging performances by Danny Aiello, Angie
