[THE STORY]
The Elimotion Project is the newest brainchild of
New York master drummer/conceptualist Ron Thaler, guitarist extraordinaire
Elijah Steele, electric bass phenomenon Matt Garrison, and turntablist-magician
DJ Logic.
The new album, ELIMOTION 1 , captures the vibrant eclectic sounds
coming from New York’s downtown music scene, fusing modern
interpretations of jazz with the explosiveness of rock and the funky
urban underground edge that marks and jabs like a fiery boxer.
Recorded live in early 2005 in Manhattan Center Studios in one three-hour
session, the music is a testament to true improvisation, a function
of four of the world’s most renown and in-demand instrumentalists
creating music and a vibe that can only be described as “intense,
unrelenting, moody, sexy, funky, “take no prisoners”
electric jazz fusion .
Even though Matt, Logic, Elijah and Ron all come from very different
backgrounds, their sonic palettes and musical acuity blend so well,
it is sometimes hard to distinguish which musician is playing what
at what time. Each piece offers the possibility for each one to
showcase their talents, improvise, interject sound effects, and
create a forward momentum that is unmistakable and focused.
When you hear ELIMOTION 1 , you will hear the world that is New
York, taste the flavors in the streets, and rejoice at the profoundness
and power of this absolutely amazing quartet.THE ELIMOTION PROJECT
is here, you can feel it ... you know !!!

ELIJAH STEELE electric guitars, sonics,
efx pedals and loops
An astoundingly musical and virtuosic guitarist, Elijah Steele is
one of the new breed of musicians, equally at home in traditional
folkloric styles or unleashing big sonic barrages. Born and raised
in Indiana, Elijah spends much of his time these days shuttling
between Nashville and New York, and has got the heads of many of
today's musical heavyweights talking. His unique ability to color
sound has made him a first call studio and live musician with recording
artists such as Enigma, 5th of July, Stephen Patrik, Andromeda Turre,
The Black Hats, Offline State, DJ Logic and many others.

DJ LOGIC
turntables, loops, soundscapes
The ubiquitous turntablist DJ Logic (born Lee Jason Kibler
in 1972) has become an international star largely by playing
his turntables outside of the various musical spheres with
which they are most commonly associated. Instead of techno
and hip-hop, his growing catalog of recordings is more likely
to be filed under jazz or rock. This diversity of musical
settings has become Logic's hallmark. He's done more than
just about any other musician to bring contemporary electronic
music to traditional instrumentalists, forging strong relationships
with players several generations his senior. Over the years,
he's become something along the lines of the Moby of the musicians'
union, the ubiquitous face of contemporary music for working
musicians, if not for the general public.
Logic got his start early, as a teenager growing up in the
Bronx, the birthplace of hip-hop. He has since played and
recorded for mega producer Teo Macero, with Vernon Reid and
Rock legends Living Colour, and alongside some of the greatest
jazz musicians such as John Scofield, Joshua Redman, Don Byron,
Marc Ribot, Graham Haynes, Medeski Martin and Wood, the Greyboy
Allstars; The Dirty Dozen Brass Band among many others. Logic
has also become something of a regular on the jam-band circuit,
playing with String Cheese Incident, Bela Fleck and Ratdog,
the band featuring Grateful Dead alumnus Bob Weir. Most recently,
you could find DJ Logic spinning his magic in 50,000 seat
stadiums around the world, where he has opened up on international
tours for mega bands John Mayer, Maroon 5 and Dave Matthews
Band.
